Sam R. Schmitt (they/he) is a queer, trans, disabled artist, activist, and scholar. Sam is a doctoral candidate in Multicultural Women and Gender Studies at Texas Woman's University, living in Saint Paul, MN. They currently work in the sexual violence advocacy world and serve as an adjunct professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies at Augsburg University.
Sam has over twelve years experience teaching at the undergraduate level and has been recognized for their excellence in teaching, LGBTQIA+ leadership, and faculty engagement.
Outside of academia, Sam runs GlitterWurst Zine Distro, an independent publishing collective that curates the writing, artistry, and activism of disabled trans and queer creatives and works to make the Twin Cities zine community accessible to disabled artists, writers, and zinesters.
Sam's hobbies and interests include making art, reading, freeganism/DIY, cats, tattoos, zines, crafting, good coffee, and spending time with chosen family.
