Sam R. Schmitt is a doctoral candidate in Multicultural Women and Gender Studies at Texas Woman's University, living in Minneapolis, MN. They are currently an adjunct professor of Sociology at Hamline University and teaches Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies at Augsburg University.
Sam has over seven years experience teaching at the undergraduate level and has been recognized for excellence in teaching, LGBTQIA leadership, and faculty engagement. Sam is a skilled student mentor and has extensive experience supervising undergraduate activist programming, with an emphasis on women and gender resource center coordination.
Outside of academia, Sam runs GlitterWurst Zine Distro an independent publishing collective that curates the writing, artistry, and activism of disabled trans and queer creatives and works to make the Minneapolis zine community accessible to disabled artists, writers, and zinesters.
Sam's hobbies and interests include reading, freeganism/DIY, cats, tattoos, zines, crafting, painting, board games, and spending time with chosen family.
