​Sam R. Schmitt ​(they/he) is a doctoral candidate in Multicultural Women and Gender Studies at Texas Woman's University, living in Minneapolis, MN. Sam holds a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice/Criminology from Washington State University where they practiced sex worker victim/survivor advocacy. They are currently working for Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MNCASA) and serve as an adjunct professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies at Augsburg University. 
Sam has over eight years experience teaching at the undergraduate level and has been recognized for excellence in teaching, LGBTQIA+ leadership, and faculty engagement. Sam is a skilled student mentor and has extensive experience supervising undergraduate activist programming, with an emphasis on women and gender resource center coordination. 

Outside of academia, Sam runs GlitterWurst Zine Distro: an independent publishing collective that curates the writing, artistry, and activism of disabled trans and queer creatives and works to make the Minneapolis zine community accessible to disabled artists, writers, and zinesters. 

Sam's hobbies and interests include reading, freeganism/DIY, cats, tattoos, zines, crafting, good coffee and spending time with chosen family
